The art of holy listening. I have received this. I am seeking to offer this as I companion others. The past eight years have been preparing my steps. Marriage, family, home education, international living and local church ministries are the experiences that have shaped the spiritual direction ministry in my life.

I received my direction training through the Selah Certificate Program in Spiritual Direction, Leadership Transformations, Inc. in June 2016. I have been sitting in spiritual direction since 2008. The distinction of Spiritual Direction is "walking with" a brother towards Christ. I quit telling men what to do, and started listening with them to what God is saying to them.

I received an M.A. in Spiritual Formation from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and have been trained in Selah Contemplative Spiritual Direction. I also work as an INELDA-trained End-of-Life Doula.

My name is Matt Kessler. I lead a small non-profit in San Antonio, Texas dedicated to leadership coaching, spiritual direction, marriage care, and wilderness adventure trips. I am passionate about coming alongside and guiding people into a deeper experience of the Father’s love, identity and freedom in Christ, and fullness of life in the Holy Spirit.

I have served in ordained ministry in the local church for 27 years. I have a Master's in Divinity, and I am a certified Leadership Coach, Stephen’s Minister, and Spiritual Director. I am also a trained Survival Instructor. I have planted and pastored two churches, helped start and lead several non-profit ministries, and I was consecrated a missionary bishop in the Anglican Communion in 2017. I’ve been married for 23 years and have three children 19, 15, 13…and two Australian Shepherds 7 and 1.

Spiritual Direction is a biblical form of Christian soul care that dates back to the earliest days of the church. It is a one-on-one relationship organized around Scripture, prayer, and conversations. It is an accompanied journey of the soul with the goal of spiritual renewal, transformation in Christ, and deeper union with God.

My first experience with spiritual direction came during one of the most difficult times I ever faced in ministry. Through Scripture reading, prayer, journaling, and weekly conversations with my spiritual director - the Lord met me, healed me, redeemed my pain, and breathed new life into my calling and ministry.

I was trained as a Spiritual Director through the Cenacle School of Spiritual Direction in Clearwater, Florida. As a spiritual director, it is my privilege to share all that has been so graciously invested in me to help others grow deeper in their relationship with God, self, and those around them.

I long for a vibrant and intimate relationship with God and have been profoundly touched by the relationships I’ve encountered along the way in my own spiritual journey. The art of listening and compassionate care; to walk alongside of another in life’s journey, is a unique experience, one that can be so life-giving. It’s my pleasure to companion souls as a spiritual director, as a spiritual friend.

I am a creative. I paint, design, craft, write, imagine, curate sacred experiences and enjoy the varied expressions of the human soul through the arts, literature, nature and "work" in the world. I've taken to heart the Apostle Paul's desire to "labor until Christ be formed in you" and find in it a way to describe my vocation in life. I've spent almost 10 years pastoring in at a local church and was enriched by shaping and curating a communal sacred experience for many in the congregation.

My education/training includes: MDIV (pastoral ministries), a MA (Spiritual Formation/Soul Care) both graduate degrees are from Talbot School of Theology. I've also received training in Ignatian spiritual exercises and retreat, Contemplative Spiritual Practices and the Enneagram, and training in vocation-formation facilitation of seminary small groups at Fuller Seminary. I have a rich and varied experience of serving God and his people through cross-cultural and local missional work, teaching in churches and universities, facilitating group and individual spiritual direction and retreats, and participation in community outreach.

I have acquired some unique training with elder/end of life, chronic illness and dementia care by way of my own life circumstances. I've had the privilege of walking my own family through trying seasons to assist our elder family members in their passing with dignity.

Whatever the life season, I welcome companionship - those that walk with me or the invitation to walk with others. As one of my mentors says: Soul work - transformative life in God - is the solitary work that can not be done alone.

A core value that I hold as a spiritual director is the cultivation of hospitable space. Henri Nouwen's definition of hospitality has shaped me in profound ways. Nouwen says, "Hospitality means primarily the creation of free space where the stranger can enter and become a friend . . . Hospitality is not to change people, but to offer them space where change can take place.” It is my honor and joy to prayerfully hold safe space where growing self-awareness and self-discovery lead to finding the sacredness of one's own life story within God's Divine Story. EE Cummings said, “We do not believe in ourselves until someone reveals that deep inside us something is valuable, worth listening to, worthy of our trust, sacred to our touch.” As a spiritual director, my desire is to listen deeply, so the directee can experience the sacredness of her being and her story. Within the freedom of this safe space, together we listen to the Spirit and discern the presence and action of God in one's life.

I have served for over 25 years as staff in a Protestant missionary order as a trainer in spiritual formation and as mentor and coach. I was born in South Korea and immigrated to the US as a child. I have always been drawn to sit with others and listen deeply to their sacred stories. As I deepen my own journey into contemplative spirituality, I am drawn to the sacredness of each individual human being as created in God's image and to the sacredness of each person's unfolding life journey.

My heart is to provide a safe space for a wide range of individuals with various spiritual experiences and backgrounds through the Holy Spirit. It is my joy to walk with people in their journey of faith, help them recognize how God is present in their lives, and explore their personal prayer life and relationship with the Lord through vulnerability, transparency, and genuine conversation.

I graduated from Talbot School of Theology with my MA in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care. My training has granted me various opportunities to walk with a diverse group of individuals experiencing deconstruction, confusion, “dark night of the soul”, depression, anxiety, and trauma. My greatest desire is to be a hospitable presence to guide people in learning what it means to walk with the Lord, experience Spirit-led sanctification, and become more like Christ, from the inside out.

Through my own upbringing as a missionary's kid, I have been able to relate with fellow pastors' and missionaries’ kids who may have unique struggles and deep wounds and hurts. My own mission trip experiences to countries such as Syria, Jordan, Israel, Palestine, Egypt, Sri Lanka, India, Lebanon, Greece, South Korea, and Cambodia, as well as my one-year student missionary experience in Turkey, have widened my worldview and perspectives on diversity, culture, and religion. My greatest passion of all is to utilize spiritual direction as a tool on the mission field, particularly in Middle Eastern nations.

I am passionate about discipleship, relationships, and helping people of all ages find God in their everyday. I am also eager to hold a safe space for those seeking healing and restoration from church or spiritual leadership wounds. In addition, my heart is to help church leaders and pastors who are feeling stuck, experiencing burn out, or unable to go deeper in their relationship with the Lord. It's been my privilege to serve in ministry with my husband, Tom, for 40 years. After serving cross-culturally in SE Asia for 9 years, subsequent ministry has centered primarily on extending missionary care to those serving in a variety of contexts around the world. I have also provided an open heart to students at Melbourne School of Theology and have loved being involved in college-aged students.

My vision and love for ministry were deepened and expanded through my MA degree in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care, which I earned at Talbot School of Theology in 2014. After decades of ministry, I learned a different way of sitting with others: holding a story and listening together for the Spirit's voice of love. Despite growing up a preacher’s daughter, I have often wondered why God was (or wasn’t!) allowing certain circumstances in my life. There have been plenty of times when I felt angry, hurt, confused and even abandoned by God. Yet through it all, I’ve seen His goodness and experienced His faithful, loving presence in the midst of pain and problems. I’ve also come to realize how vital it is to have the support of fellow pilgrims along the way, especially during times when God feels distant or confusing.

I want to help you, too, see God’s goodness and lovingkindness at work in the midst of your life. I want you to know how much and how deeply God loves you, and that He will work all things together for your good. It’s okay to be unsure or struggling in our walk with God. Through the process of listening and noticing His presence together, He will lead you into deeper understanding, healing and peace. I know this because I’ve seen it happen over and over again, in my own life and in the lives of those with whom I work.

Through the training program at Soul Shepherding, I learned how to wed my love of spirituality and emotional health, and was certified as a Spiritual Director in 2022. Prior to this, I obtained my doctorate from Rosemead School of Psychology, at Biola University, in 2000, and practiced as a licensed clinical psychologist for 20 years, specializing in trauma and adoption. Shortly after my husband and I had our first son in 2006, our family dealt with significant health issues. God used this to propel me into the world of alternative healthcare. I have since had additional training in numerous mind-body techniques that can be used to foster healing and increase our ability to both hear from and respond to our Heavenly Father.

My absolute favorite thing is to see people set free to have a renewed relationship with the triune God, and to more fully express their unique gifts and abilities in His Kingdom. I would love to journey with you on your path as we learn to revel in God’s goodness together!

Hi, my name is Chris and my own personal journey towards spiritual direction was about a decade in the making.

In my early thirties, I experienced a dark night of the soul that lasted for over a year. It was a difficult and disorientating time. I felt alone and without a good space to be able to openly and honestly process what was happening in my journey with God. Little did I know then what a gift that time would be. God used that time not only for forming my own soul but for shaping my future vocation. Through this experience, God gave me a passion for helping others better understand their own spiritual journeys, spiritual disciplines, and the care of their souls.

I bring over 20 years of experience in church and parachurch ministry as well as in learning and development across the lifespan. I have served on church staff and in church leadership and have extensive experience leading adult spiritual formation classes and book clubs. I completed a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology: Learning and Development at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a two-year training program in Spiritual Direction through The Christos Center for Spiritual Formation.

I have been married for 23 years and have one teenage daughter. I love to be outside in nature, backpack camping, doing leather work and anything creative, and reading - especially anything sci-fi/fantasy or related to spiritual growth and development.

I am on staff with Gracebridge Alliance, a non-profit organization of spiritual directors that desires to help sustain faithfulness in ministry leaders. I see directees in person in our offices in Brookfield, WI, and Fond du Lac, WI, as well as remotely.

I count it a privilege to be invited to companion with people as they seek to journey deeper into the transforming love of Jesus. The Prophet Jeremiah, in the midst of a spiritually dry time, reminded God’s people, “’Long ago the Lord said to Israel: “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love, I have drawn you to myself.” (Jeremiah 31:3, NLT) As we travel through all phases and seasons of life, the joyful and the difficult, Jesus is continually inviting us to respond to Him and live more fully in His love for us. This does not always mean the love Jesus is extending to us is obvious at first or easy to embrace. Yet, what I love about the ministry of Spiritual Direction is the chance to assist and support others as they seek to know and encounter Jesus is a personal and formative way. I desire to be a presence and listening ear that opens the door for others to meet with and hear from the Holy Spirit, who is the true Spiritual Director of our lives. God is the guide, the grace, and the goal of our journey; our role is to attentively recognize and respond to His movements in our lives.
I have the joy of being with Jesus and people in many facets of life. I am husband to a wonderful wife, a dad to two young boys, an ordained pastor in The International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, as a Spiritual Director, and as the Care Pastor at Faith Fellowship Church in Uxbridge, MA where I facilitate the pastoral care ministries of the church and oversee the church’s small groups. My training includes a B.A. in Biblical Studies from Zion Bible College, a Masters of Divinity from Ashland Theological Seminary with a concentration in Spiritual Formation, and the completion of a two-year training cohort in Spiritual Direction through The PAX Center of Spiritual Formation.

About Me

Hello and welcome to Beth Knight Ministry! where my heart meets yours for deep supportive listening and where generous ecumenism abounds.
~Spiritual Direction has been my passion for 20 years. My certification is through Holy Spirit Center of Anchorage, AK (2003-2005). I also hold a master’s degree in Pastoral Counseling from Asbury Theological Seminary (2016) and am a Commissioned Ecumenical Minister through Federation of Christian Ministries.
~Having lived in Anchorage, Alaska for 19 years, the Holy Spirit meaningfully shaped my life through retreat ministry there and many beloved people. Now I live in central Florida where I love spending time with family, friends, being a Nana, outdoor evening walks, the smell of pine trees, and labyrinth prayer walking. I write a bit poetry and am an avid reader of non-fiction.
~ I serve as a spiritual director globally, supervisor to other SD, teach as an adjunct faculty with The Center for Formation/Ministry of Spiritual Direction School in Pennsylvania; and facilitate retreats & workshops in person and online. I also serve as a pastoral counselor in partnership with Central FL Psychological Consultants, a SD with Shade and Fresh Water Respite Ministry through FL Conf UMC and Chaplain for The Light House contemplative online spiritual community.

Psalm 23:2 Is a favorite scripture and I see it as an invitation from God into His presence. It is my sincere desire to help you step into the quiet waters of God’s love. I would be honored to be your soul care companion on your journey.
I am a graduate of Sustainable Faith’s School of Spiritual Direction and a member of ESDA. Offering you a welcoming space for connection with God and the transformation that occurs in that loving presence is my heart.
I am a certified naturalist and by request offer the observation of nature as a reflective tool in soul care. Similarly, as the founder of Presence Ministries, I lead contemplative nature retreats for those seeking the presence of God in his creation.
