I’m a second generation Asian-American who has worked in professional church ministry in the past. I enjoy art and museums, being an auntie, and walks in the park. My training took place in the greater Los Angeles area, first at the Institute for Spiritual Formation at Talbot School of Theology (2014), and also at the Spirituality Center on the campus of Mount St. Mary’s University (2017).

Living in a hectic, hyperconnected world, believers seeking to center their lives in Christ may find value in holding to a practice of spiritual direction. It is a monthly time to slow down with someone and listen deeply.

How is God at work in you? What is God communicating? How can you be true to your call in the circumstances you find yourself in? Questions such as these are explored in our fifty-minute sessions.

I am a gentle, intuitive, and trained spiritual director wanting to provide a space where God can be met. I’d like to assist you to notice the depth and details of your journey. Together, we cultivate a more reflective dimension to your Christian spirituality, with hopes that it brings greater connection to and awareness of God in your life.

Spiritual direction was the ministry I needed and couldn't find after years of running myself ragged in ministry. I wanted to be able to trust the whispers of the Holy Spirit when everyone around me was saying something else. In my spiritual direction practice we take ample time to quiet our souls and listen together for what the Holy Spirit may have to say. The gifts that are often available in this space are interior freedom, discernment, awareness of God and his work in your life, deepening prayer and a fresh experience of the trinity just to name a few.

I was trained through Sustainable Faith and am continually sharpening and expanding my skills to include the Enneagram, Ignatian Spirituality, supervision and retreats.

I am a spiritual director with dual trainings through Richmont Graduate University and Larger Story with Larry Crabb. Because I believe in the mind-body-spirit connection, I am trained in brainspotting, which can be helpful in processing spiritual trauma/abuse, as well as offer deeper connection with God by accessing emotions, memories, and ideas stored beyond conscious thought and language. After 20 years of serving on various church staffs, as well as growing up in a ministry family, I am passionate about companioning both church staff and those who have been hurt by the church. It is a special privilege to witness the stories of others and hold them before God. Working through my own healing process has developed an affinity for others in the process of grieving and healing.

As a spiritual director, I seek to create a calm and welcoming space to explore the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the directee. I believe that the Spirit is the ultimate director and is always at work in the directee’s life, even if the directee is unaware. Using a contemplative model, I follow the directee’s lead in the session as we pay attention together to their spiritual dynamics. As led by the Spirit, or requested by the directee, I incorporate brainspotting, as well as other spiritual practices into the direction session.

I also offer experiences with spiritual practices to groups, such as contemplative prayer, lectio divina, etc.

Your story and your heart matter. Many things lead an individual to consider a spiritual direction relationship: a longing for deeper intimacy with God, a difficult or transitional season of life, faith stretching questions, or the demands, isolation, and intensity of ministry.

As a spiritual director, my heart will be attentive to God as I companion you. Together we will listen for God and look for His fingerprints on the pages of your story. My prayer is that you will experience God's love more fully and move into greater freedom, healing, and wholeness in Him.

I graduated from Messiah College with a Bachelor of Arts in studio art (1992). I received a Master of Divinity from Biblical Seminary, Hatfield, PA (2004) and I completed spiritual direction training at Kairos: School of Spiritual Formation, Lancaster, PA (2013).

I am also a wife, mother, artist and author. My husband is an attorney and my two daughters are young adults. As an artist I reflect on, respond to, and pray the beauty and the mess of our walk with God through images. I have created three devotional books that blend Scripture, art, reflections, and journal pages.

I’m a husband, father of two and spiritual director that has been pastoring in the greater Seattle area for the last ten years. I have over 20 years of ministry experience and am ordained with The Christian and Missionary Alliance. I have completed The Academy of Spiritual Formation and am certified by The School of Spiritual Direction through SoulFormation.

Having walked through seasons of significant loss, depression and burnout in my role as a lead pastor, I've come to understand the importance of having a soul friend that can walk alongside us to help us make sense of our faith journey.

Gordon T. Smith explains that, “A spiritual director offers spiritual guidance and companionship to help us make sense of our faith journey, interpret with us the significant markers on the road, and encourage us, particularly through the more difficult transitions and valleys of our pilgrimage. Most of all, a spiritual director helps us make sense of the witness of the Spirit - assisting us to respond well to the question, ‘How is God present to me and how is God, through the ministry of the Spirit, at work in my life?’”

Regardless of what season of life you find yourself in, Spiritual Direction is a powerful ministry that helps individuals take a deeper dive in their walk by listening for the voice of God, together.

What I love most about spiritual direction is that it creates a space for people to come unguarded before God and bring what's authentic, even when it's unpolished. In turn, they encounter God's goodness in fresh ways that deepen faith and generate freedom.

I've spent over 10 years pastoring youth and families in the church and have my MA in Theology from Concordia University. I was trained as a spiritual director through Nuos Formation and also have 10 years experience life coaching around a variety of issues. I approach my work holistically and will often use the body to help people access their emotions and have a felt experience of grace. I am trauma and BIPOC informed. I continue to be in awe of how God uses the seemingly mundane experiences of life as opportunities to be fully known by him and others and expand our capacity to give and receive love.

One of my greatest joys is spending time with my playful husband of seven years and connecting with my step-kids (now 21 and 23). Being a step mom has been a vulnerable grace toward deeper belonging. Recently God has been drawing me to explore the arts and I'm pursuing an AA in dance.

I can meet with people in-person or on Zoom. I lead groups as well as work one on one with men and women of all ages.

I marvel at the path God has cleared for me to find His nearness. During some stormy years of pain and loss, my faith was reshaped to discover the presence of Jesus through the practice of Lament. The freedom explored in this ancient spiritual practice led me to write a lament booklet to encourage others. Through my dependence on the Holy Spirit, I find deep listening to other’s stories a means to dusting for the fingerprints of God. Currently, in my local Church, I lead small groups through a grief support ministry which I co-created. Coming alongside those struggling with loss of any type stirs me to show the same mercy, grace, and compassion I have received. I completed my Spiritual Direction certificate through Sustainable Faith, as well as a certificate as a Grief Recovery Specialist through the Grief Recovery Method. Years ago I felt the Lord say to me, "I have made you to be like Silas, one who comes along side." I have discovered that the deeper meaning of this calling is in spiritual direction. I count it a privilege to journey along side others as we walk with God in our direction appointments.

I currently serve as the Senior Pastor of Carefree Vineyard Church and hold a Masters of Divinity from The Master's Institute. As a Spiritual Director, it is an honor to hold sacred space for individuals to attend to their inner lives and to connect to the presence and activity of God in their daily journey. As I am allowed to travel together with others who authentically engage with God, it is a joy to bear witness to their unfolding understanding of how loved they are - that never gets old!

As a ministry spouse (my husband has been a lead pastor for 30+ years) and a nonprofit executive director, I know firsthand the challenges of vocational ministry. I understand the loneliness of ministry (even if surrounded by people) and the lack of safe places to process our emotions and life situations with honesty and complete confidentiality. I am in a unique position to listen to and understand others in ministry without judgment.

I received a certificate in Spiritual Direction through Soul Shepherding Institute and completed their two-year Spiritual Formation program. My husband and I have been married (and in vocational ministry) for 37 years. We have four grown children and one adorable grandson. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, working jigsaw puzzles while listening to worship music, and spending time with God in nature.

Hello, My name is Beth Laury. I am a second career minister leaving a career as a physical therapist when the Lord called me full-time into His service. For seven years, I served as the adult discipleship director/pastor at a metro Atlanta Church. Currently, I serve with Hearts for Eternity leading retreats both locally and internationally. In addition, I provide spiritual direction and spiritual formation support for women.

I call myself a “space maker” as I make space for others to be with God. The Holy Spirit is the one doing the work and I never forget that. I love helping people slow down and listen to the Lord. I care deeply for the struggling, broken, and suffering. I am passionate about journeying one-on-one or leading groups as others grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. By the grace of God, I often witness Christ’s work of transformation in people’s lives.

Part of my personal formation has been through the Renovaré Institute. I earned a Master of Arts in Spiritual Formation and Direction from Richmont Graduate University in Atlanta, GA. I have completed an eighteen-month training on giving the Ignatius Spiritual Exercises from the Westmont College/Martin Institute in conjunction with the Jesuit Institute of South Africa. In addition, I am a Level 1 Certified Christian Trauma Care Provider and Level II Enneagram Practitioner, though I only use these topics if the client requests. I am married with two adult daughters and I love reading, walking, cooking, and traveling.

It is my great joy to sit with others, inviting the Spirit to lead us, as we listen, and look for the Lords’ invitations to know Him more deeply. My own experience with direction has helped me to see how comforting and powerful companioning and seeking the Lord together can be to help us grow to know Jesus more intimately.

I loved serving in medical missions and church planting on the island of Trinidad with my family for ten years and I have a passion for the local church. I have led Bible studies with women and worked with children. I also have a deep love for cross-cultural ministry and am involved with our missionary care team.

My training was received from the Spiritual Formation and Soul Care program at Talbot Seminary and I am currently working as a Spiritual
Director for Biola University, working with Biola and Talbot students.

After working to refugees in London, UK, and as a Christian Education Director in Worcester, MA, my past experiences and training have converged, leading me to a vocational home in spiritual direction and the pastorate. I am the part-time settled pastor of Central Baptist Church, Southbridge, MA, and founder and director of The Pilgrimage, a work of online spiritual direction and formation.

Through the Pilgrimage, I provide individual spiritual direction and group spiritual formation courses and Bible exploration. I have a particular concern to be a listening ear for those wrestling with their place in the American church and/or on the verge or in process of spiritual deconstruction. To answer your questions, I've created a few statements reflecting how I offer spiritual direction.

* I am a Christian contemplative, which means I found healing, freedom, and purpose in the life and example of Jesus Christ through the spiritual practices of silence and solitude.

* I am a trained spiritual director who creates space for a person to pay attention to the inner movements of their soul as they explore their own spirituality and reconnect to what is true about the Sacred and themself.

* I am a trained guide for the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. The Spiritual Exercises are a powerful tool that brings about desired transformation and freedom.

She relishes her role of accompanying everyday people (from all stages and walks of life) into the loving and generative welcome of the Holy Spirit through compassionate listening. She believes that regularly carving out time in your life for self-care can encourage, restore, and illuminate your unique journey with the Spirit.

At the crossroads of every transition, questions about our identity surface. Eun is a Korean immigrant and mother of 5 bi-racial children ( from adult to single digits). Her lived experience and studies make her knowledgeable and adept at helping others navigate the unique challenges and gifts that arise from having a third-culture identity. She finds deep joy in sitting with those in transition seasons, whether as a young adult, new parent, empty nester, mid-lifer, or a seasoned soul entering into their golden years. Her admonishment is to approach critical times of change as sacred invitations for opening your schedule, mind, and heart to perceive the new and ongoing activity of the Spirit in your life.

Along with her spiritual direction training completed through Sustainable Faith, she has a B.A. in Ethnic Studies from UCSD. In addition to individual direction sessions, she has led various cross-cultural, faith-oriented, and spiritually-seeking small groups with diverse people and opinions. She has been an educator for 15 years and is currently co-administrating an afterschool tutoring program for students of immigrant parents. As an avid gardener, she is obsessed with all things dirt and growing. About Me

Before I embarked on the journey of my Spiritual Direction program at the John C. Weborg Center for Spiritual Direction at North Park Theological Seminary, I had a conversation with a friend, who is from a non-denominational evangelical tradition. I shared that I was about to begin my program. Her immediate question was: “What is spiritual direction?” Around the same time, I had a conversation with another friend, who is from a Roman Catholic tradition and when I shared that I am beginning my class on spiritual direction, her response was: “Why, as an evangelical, are you learning about spiritual direction? This is more in line with the Catholic tradition.” So the two questions—“What is spiritual direction?” and “Why spiritual direction?”—felt like twin lighthouses that have guided my calling as a spiritual director.

As I recall my past spiritual history, I believe that I have always been involved in spiritual direction although I did not use the phrase “spiritual direction” as a theological category to describe my experience. I called it “discipleship” or “mentoring.” One key difference, however, is that when I met with either my directee or my director, our meetings were always within the context of a local church, that is, in the midst of doing life together. What was different from what I had known and experienced in the past is that a spiritual director could be someone who has not journeyed with me nor shares the same spiritual history. He or she could be a third-party person who helps you listen to God’s voice.

When I learned about the history of spiritual direction in pietism and the Evangelical Covenant Church, I was glad to see the deep historical roots of spiritual direction in a pietist spirituality. When August Hermann Prancke asked the question: “directed toward what?’(Spiritual Direction in Pietism and the Covenant Church: A Descant on Text and Life), I felt that this was the question I was asking as well. What is the goal of spiritual direction? When two people are meeting together in that space of listening to God together, what is the end which God has in mind?

The surprising answer that I discovered was: “toward fear, love and trust of God, or delicate fear.” It was surprising because fear has been misunderstood, and it is extremely difficult to discuss fear in today’s climate of anxiety and terror over COVID-19, economic crisis, and various political and racial tensions. The last thing anyone wants is more fear. But it is further clarified that what Prancke and other pietists encouraged is not bondage-fear, but rather childlike fear, which consists “in reverence for God’s promises, assurance of his presence, all in the context of an awareness of his pleasure or displeasure.” I felt that the pietists provided a clear sense of what the goal or aim is for spiritual direction. As I continue to meet with my director and my directees, I ask myself: Am I growing in, and growing towards, the delicate fear of God? Am I being aware of His pleasure? A metaphor that I came to love for a spiritual director is that of the Friend of the Bridegroom. My role is to bear witness to how the Bridegroom transforms the directees through His love and share in their fullness of joy together, as we both listen to the voice of the Bridegroom. Spiritual direction is also refining the acoustics of my heart to listen to God and help others to refine the acoustics of their hearts to hear God as well.

I grew up in California and “immigrated” to the Midwest in 2003. As a Cal Bear alumnus, I thought I would forever live and be buried in California. But God’s vision was that I go on an adventure with Him for an unspecified amount of time in the wilderness of the Midwest. I was educated at the C. John Weborg Center for Spiritual Direction at North Park Theological Seminary and served bi-vocationally in various ministry settings for over thirty years. I have a passion and heart to help lead people to experience deep intimacy with God and to experience the transforming power of the One who calls us the Beloved. I love to create space especially for women in ministry to hear God’s call and leading in their lives. I currently also work as an insurance litigation adjuster and have a heart for those whose vocation is in the marketplace. My husband and I have been married for 30 years and have two adult sons and currently live in Chicago.
