About Me

I am an ordained elder with the Global Methodist Church. I earned a Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary in pastoral studies and a doctorate in spiritual direction from Houston Graduate School of Theology. I studied as a spiritual direction intern at the Oblate Theological Seminary in San Antonio, Texas, for three years.

My main focus as a spiritual director is to respond to God's creation that builds up the kingdom through individuals who long for a touch and direction from the Spirit of God. My rule of practice is prayer, reading of the holy Scriptures, discernment, wisdom from experience, and recognize that the Spirit of God is the director within every session. God cultivates the fruit of the journey. I believe in the Kingdom concept of the already but not yet--individuals are kingdom people at present but the fullness of our lives is still unfolding according to his purpose. My goal with every individual is to learn how to become a soul friend.

I served thirty-five years in the military as a chaplain and am a trained clinical hospital chaplain. My skills are working with older adults, death and dying, veterans, officiating funerals, visiting the sick, and listening to stories. I have mentored and journeyed with persons who discern the call to different ministry vocations. While in the military, the ministry with mortuary affairs, wounded warriors, counseling military personnel, and reintegrating families back into the states from overseas was a blessing. I was a pastor for thirteen years in the local church. I enjoy facilitating Bible studies and clergy as a group.

I am a lifelong single person, living with my twin sister and two beloved felines. Tending to the body, mind, and spirit is essential to a holistic balance. I walk daily listening to suitable Scripture lessons and sermons, and I love to bake my bread. I enjoy God's creation through birds, constellations, and animals.

Belovedness captured my heart at a Soul Care retreat in the Colorado Mountains in 2018. I have never been the same. I will never go back. Discovering that I was God's Beloved has changed me profoundly. This transformed me, and now it informs everything I do. I want everyone I encounter to discover, embrace, and live out their Belovedness.

It changed my life to know that my Belovedness is not based on performance but upon a relationship with God, whose very nature is love. Spiritual Direction provides a grace-filled, safe environment to plumb the depths of God’s love. As a spiritual director, I delight in walking with other people helping them deepen their love relationship and friendship with God.

I bring to spiritual direction more than 45 years of life experience as a pastor and missionary (overseas and nationally). I’ve experienced both great joys and devastating heartaches in life and ministry. There have been victories and brokenness, but God’s grace has been sufficient, and He never stopped working to bring me to this moment in my spiritual journey.

At the Soul Care retreat mentioned above, I experienced spiritual direction for the first time. I’ve never gotten over that, either. In that loving, safe place, I began to share the condition of my soul. It needed healing, it was hurting, and I didn’t know what to do. I shared hopes and dreams as well as brokenness and pain. I have never felt more loved and safe.

I then enrolled in the Soul Care Institute, a two-year intensive study of learning to care for your total person - Body, Soul, and Spirit - for your sake and the sake of others. Spiritual direction was an integral part of the SCI. God has worked greatly in my life through spiritual direction and ultimately I have become a spiritual director.

I have a passion for walking with others on their spiritual journeys. I want to journey with them toward Belovedness and caring for their soul. As two people listen together to the Holy Spirit as spiritual friends and companions, God will speak, His love will be revealed, and lives will be touched in new and vibrant ways. I would love to walk with you toward a deeper friendship with God.

I am certified in spiritual direction through the Selah Center for Spiritual Formation in Nashville, Tennessee, and in Soul Care through the Soul Care Institute. I hold a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry (in Pastoral Ministry) from Southwestern Theological Seminary.

My wife, Kristi (also a spiritual director), and I have been married for over 47 years. We have two married children and seven amazing grandchildren. I served as pastor of churches in Texas and Missouri. We served as international missionaries in Venezuela for 12 years. I recently retired after serving the Bledsoe Association of Churches for 26 years as their Association Mission Strategist.

I serve in Leader Formation at Youth for Christ, USA, training adults across the US who lead ministry to 11-19 year olds; developing ministry skills and personal, Spirit-led transformation. While I love my chosen vocation, I found myself "under water" in recent years driven by my work ethic, a culture of achievement and an internal desire to to earn approval. (Not to mention the wave of life changes that come as we age!) I needed help coming up for air and Spiritual Direction was the help Jesus used to invite me into His long and loving gaze. Spiritual direction has helped me cultivate an un-hurried soul in companionship with Jesus.

I completed certification in Spiritual Direction, The School of Contemplative Life and the Accompaniment of the 19th Annotated Ignatian Prayer Exercises through Sustainable Faith. Each of these has generated transformation in my inner life and I am delighted to accompany others as they journey. As people occasionally need help figuring out where the Holy Spirit is leading, I create and hold space for folks to meet with Jesus. More of a companion on the road than a direction-giver, I come alongside as a support.

My experience in offering Spiritual Direction includes meeting with ministry leaders, young women, new moms, "empty nesters" and those drawn to Ignatian Prayer Exercises; helping each explore the presence of Jesus and His shepherding voice. I have served as an on-site Spiritual Director for Women's Reflective Retreats in Mount Hermon, CA.

I host reflective retreats that help attendees develop rhythms of retreat and reflection, helping people settle in to this journey; encouraging them toward the heart of Jesus through the movements in their souls.

My life has been one of call and response - God gives me awareness of His call and I respond by following His lead. In this journey of joy, God has called me to serve in different ministry capacities for more than 20 years. Most recently, He led me to start a church community in San Luis Obispo where we grow together in practicing the presence of God. As I desperately depend on Him to follow this calling, He has drawn me into deeper personal postures, practices and rhythms in order to consistently stay in the flow of His Spirit. About Me

My spiritual direction training had a strong focus on the Ignatian approach. I had the privilege of participating in the Spiritual Exercises, (19th Annotation) the year after I completed my certificate. This daily practice of the Spiritual Exercises for a total of nine months was incredibly formative in my own spiritual life and has influenced how I offer direction to others.

My spiritual direction practice often involves an opening prayer, an invitation into a few moments of silence (statio) followed by holy listening as the directee describes their experience of God moving within themselves, their relationships, work, environment and circumstances. I offer contemplative questions and observations for the directee to ponder and respond to if they desire. Jesus' own questions from the gospels often serve as wonderful points to consider and contemplate for the directee as we listen together for the Spirit's movement in our conversation of three (the directee, myself, and the Holy Spirit).

Prior to training as a spiritual director I completed a 4 year undergraduate degree in Theology followed by 15+ years serving abroad as a missionary. I have experience with cross-cultural and third-culture life as well as the challenges that accompany significant life transitions - including, but not limited to re-entry in to one's passport country, marriage, parenthood, deconstruction, and spiritual abuse. Mission work has taken me to Germany, Lithuania, and Madagascar. My husband and I raised our small children (3 boys) in Madagascar for 11 years before moving to Canada to be closer to family. My faith journey began within a very conservative Evangelical Mennonite community, and has expanded and changed as God led me to experience different global cultures, languages and people groups. Because of my travels and missionary work I have experienced worship and community in Mennonite churches as well as Evangelical, Anglican, Lutheran, Charismatic, Reform, and Baptist. I've found that this life experience has expanded and significantly deepened my love and reverence for God and the unfathomableness of the great 'I AM'.

I am an Enneagram Type 4 (a creative individualist, deeply in tune with emotions and noticing the beauty and sacredness in the everyday), and I'm very likely a Myers-Briggs INFP. When I'm not offering direction to others, or receiving direction from my own director I am spending time with my husband and teenage boys, reading, or making things (garments, accessories, art - all made using organic or recycled materials) which I sell at Farmer's Markets and online. It is a fun outlet for my creativity and different way to engage with people.

I have a fervent passion for learning, for the church, for creation-care and for spiritual growth. Over the course of my spiritual direction practice I have developed a deep and awe-full wonder at the mysterious, unexpected and powerful work of the Spirit moving in the lives of those who are courageously seeking more of God. It is truly a sacred privilege to accompany someone in their exploration and examination of the movements of the Creator in their life.

Spiritual Direction is a privilege and gift that I love. I strive to provide an inviting space for sacred conversation, attentive listening, and discernment as the Holy Spirit moves within the conversation. The Spiritual Direction program, Selah, through Leadership Transformations, Inc., trained me to focus on Trinitarian, Contemplative, and Biblical foundations. While silence can be uncomfortable for some, the intention is for silence to become part of the rhythm and natural flow. However, this practice is not exclusive to my practice, and I will always respond to what feels best for you.
Professionally, I work for the Spiritual Life Development Department for The Salvation Army Eastern Territorial Headquarters in New York. I have been part of the team here for almost nine years. The vision of our department is to create tangible resources that encourage and guide spiritual disciplines such as prayers, silence & solitude, and Lectio Divina, to name a few. We also provide guided retreats for refreshment and renewal. The work within this department has helped cultivate a deeper understanding of my faith and relationship with the Lord. It’s always about me showing up because He is already there.
I have been married to my high school sweetheart for over twenty years, and we have two daughters. We were an active military family for fourteen years before my husband separated from the US Navy and began a new career. Family, friends, and my community are important to me. For fun, I enjoy spending time in nature, playing with my dogs, reading books, stretching out of my comfort zone and listening to all voices, resting on a beach, and CrossFit. I was born and raised in The Salvation Army, where my family and I attend church. While living all over the country, my family and I have also attended different churches. I gleaned from the experience and sitting in a room with believers who just want to be part of the community. I value and respect traditions that reflect the faithful.

I have my Masters in Human Services- Family and Marriage Counseling from Liberty University. While I am not a certified counselor, my education has equipped me to be a good listener and how to engage in a one-on-one session. Becoming a Spiritual Director is a role I enjoy and feel led to practice.

I lead the Spiritual Direction team at the Bamboo Initiative, as well as providing spiritual direction for seeking individuals. I am a trained and licensed Ignatian Spiritual Director and Spiritual Exercises Accompanist, with experience leading individuals in direction, as well as the Spiritual Exercises (the 9 month version often called the “19th Annotation”), and facilitating group spiritual direction in cohorts with the 10 week Spiritual Exercises (often called the “18th Annotation”). I have found my home in observing the loving, intricate and holy work of God in the lives of the Beloved. My joy is found in watching and waiting for the Voice of God as He draws people close. My favorite scripture about Spiritual Direction comes from John chapter 3; “The One who has the bride is the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and is now complete. He must become greater; I must become less.” This is becoming my heart’s desire.

I have particular training in a prayer model called Immanuel Prayer as well as experience teaching Lectio Divina and the Examen Prayer. I am available for 1 hour Spiritual Direction sessions during flexible daytime hours. I am available for face to face meetings with locals as well as sessions via FaceTime, Zoom or WhatsApp. I charge $60 per session for individuals. My involvement as a participant and a Director in Spiritual Direction ministry brings joy and peace to my heart as God's presence and power is at work through this humble ministry. I'm currently the Associate Pastor of Gawler Lutheran Church, South Australia. As part of my ministry I run a spiritual direction and retreat ministry called Three Rivers Retreats. The Ignatian Spiritual Exercises have been influential on my own Christian walk and prayer life with God. They also have been influential on my spiritual direction formation with completing a Masters of Arts in Spiritual Direction in 2013 through the University of Divinity and in 2014 with the Arrupe Program becoming an Ignatian Companion. Since this formation various people have been seeing me for spiritual direction and I've been an ESDA Spiritual Director member since 2016. At the end of 2016 I completed some ecumenical spiritual direction formation with Tabor College, Adelaide, South Australia and affirmed as a Spiritual Director member of the Ecumenical Spiritual Director's Association since 2017. I received my spiritual direction training from Talbot’s Institute for Spiritual Formation, and my degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Seminary. The work I do in writing or leading retreats informs my spiritual direction practice and vice versa. Both challenge me to dig deeper into the reality of who God is and who He made us to be. It is my privilege to co-journey with others as they walk with Christ, creating a sacred space for them to experience His joy, freedom and healing.

What we’ll do: In our fast-paced lifestyles there is often little time and space to pause and pay attention to the movements of God. In spiritual direction, we will attend more deeply to the ongoing work God is doing in your soul and help you grow in your capacity to hear from God and participate in the work He is doing in your life. We might examine your view of God, discerning God’s will, growing in intimacy with God, decision-making, grief, faith deconstruction/reconstruction, your experience of prayer, feelings of shame and guilt, and any places you might be feeling stuck or stunted in relation to God. This usually involves meeting about once a month for an hour or so and involves silence, guided prayer and scripture meditation. We will trust the Holy Spirit to guide us, who loves you beyond measure.

Alfred works as a full-time ecumenical spiritual director and pastoral counsellor in private practice. He is a member of Spiritual Director International as well as Life Direction Singapore and subscribes to their ethical standards and practices.
He is the director of One Path ministry (www.one-path.com). He conducts workshops and retreats both locally as well as overseas.
Alfred holds a Bachelor's Degree in Theology (Trinity Theological College, Singapore) and a Master's of Arts in Pastoral Counselling (Asbury Theological Seminary, Kentucky, USA). He has undergone a two-year Formation Program for Spiritual Director with Life Direction Singapore. He has worked in various capacities in different Churches and Christian organizations for more than 30 years.
Alfred is married to Helen, his wife of 32 years, and they have two daughters, Rachel and Sarah. He enjoys nature walks, photography, art, reading, and traveling.

I'm grateful for the many seasons of life that have opened up space for applying my vocation in a variety of contexts including family life, church community, professional roles in higher education and non-profit work, and spiritual direction practice.

I received my training in spiritual direction from Denver Seminary and am passionate about prayerfully supporting others in attending and responding to God’s movement in their lives. Together, we notice and wonder what God is up to, we catch glimpses of God in the ordinary, we savor God's deep love for us.

My life and ministry experiences include parenting; teaching; child welfare work; campus ministry; mentoring; leading small group Bible studies, marriage enrichment groups, women's retreats, and training small group leaders in the church context; neighboring and hosting people in our home; and offering a space of retreat for ministry leaders and their spouses/families.

As a pastor's spouse, I've experienced the highs and lows of ministry life. I understand the unique position of a pastor's spouse and the complexities of walking through challenging seasons of ministry life. I am especially delighted to companion with ministry wives - to hold space for them to be seen and known by God and to deepen their experience of their unique belovedness in God's eyes.

I live at the base of the Rocky Mountains and enjoy the vast beauty of Colorado on a bike, a kayak, a hiking trail, and outside my window with a good cup of coffee. I love music - creating it and listening to it, reading, learning, poetry, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

The practice of coming alongside and companioning with a person (or small group) to help them pay attention to what God, through His Holy Spirit, is personally communicating and doing in and with them as they journey through this thing called life. This companioning leads to growth in Christlikeness and noticing the Holy Spirit’s transforming work in their life.

Specialties include missionaries and cross-cultural direction. I have been in International Missions since 2008, living in three different countries (Honduras, Germany, France), and I'm now back in Honduras serving in a missionary care role to the hundreds of missionaries in this third-world country. Spiritual Direction is a part of my ministry to the ministers, and serving those who serve.

I married my husband Pete in 1995, have boy/girl twins, three stepsons, and eight grandchildren. I am the oldest of four girls with no brothers. I received my Spiritual Direction certification from Sustainable Faith in 2021.

Contemplative Life is one rooted in the practices of silence, stillness, and solitude. It is through these practices that I believe we are able to live and serve from a place of overflow, honoring the way that Jesus taught us through his life and ministry. Our time together will include silence. Understanding that human complexity and the busyness of our world sometimes can make this practice difficult to learn, we will also be sharing thoughts, desires, and prayers–honoring the beauty of Semi-Silent space!

Linda is a licensed minister who has been in full time ministry at the local church level for 20 years. She currently serves as the Care and Prayer Pastor at EastLake Church in San Diego and sits on their leadership team. Outside of work she enjoys time with her family, pets, and any activity involving the ocean. She has been trained in contemplative spiritual direction through Selah’s two year program.

Linda offers contemplative spiritual direction with an awareness of the body and trauma. Somatic Experiencing® is a modality that helps work with the stuck energy of trauma in the body in a way that is supported and titrated in order to not re-traumatize the individual. Linda is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner® certified with the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute as well as holds an associate license in marriage and family therapy. Linda is currently only accepting new directees within the state of CA.

In 1995, I became aware of "holy listening" while reading Margaret Guenther's work. Her work and writings affirmed what I knew but did not have a term for in the spiritual life. I grew up surrounded by "holy listeners' who understood listening to and being aware of the presence of God in all of life. My family members and teachers understood living the presence of Christ in the rhythms of work, play and rest.

After completing a BA in Religious Studies, a Master's in Counseling and an EdD in Adult and Higher Education, I pursued a certificate in spiritual direction through the Christos Center in MN. This experience was personally and professionally life giving! I teach courses in Listening People to Life: Training in Spiritual Direction at Sioux Falls Seminary. Students come longing for a greater awareness of the presence of God, the ministry of Christ, and of the Spirit's work in and through their lives. I am honored to join people in their spiritual journey.

I value the ministry of spiritual direction as it allows space and time to remember who we are as God's children. It allows a prayerful space for listening and discerning God's purposes for our lives. Isaiah 26:3 reminds us of the peace that will permeate our lives when we are focused on God. I tend to meet with people who are in times of transitions and seeking God's direction for their lives.

I am married to Randy Reese, founder of the ministry VantagePoint 3. We have a high school son who loves to train and participate in swim competitions! We enjoy the rhythm of work, play and rest together.

I am available to facilitate personal or group direction and retreats. I am a certified Strengths coach and have worked with individuals and churches in the use of Strengths and spiritual direction in discerning personal and community life transitions.
