I am passionate about integrating my experience as a spiritual director and have a Masters in Marriage and Family to compassionately companion each directee toward hope and healing. I work with a holistic mind-body-heart posture to listen, notice, and respond to the Trinity's movements through contemplative and creative practices.

My specialties include: Ignatius Spirituality, Prayer, Discernment, Women's Issues, Religious Trauma, Grief & Loss, Creative Integration, and am trained in Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy.

I completed the 19th Annotation, an 8-month Ignatius "retreat in daily life" program where I fell in love with the humility of Jesus. In 2017, I founded Pasture Experience (www.pastureexperience.com) rooted in Psalm 23, offering spiritual direction, holistic retreats, and poetry. Empowering brave souls to experience intimacy with God through connection, contemplation, and congruence is my heartbeat.

Spiritual Direction is a privilege and gift that I love. I strive to provide an inviting space for sacred conversation, attentive listening, and discernment as the Holy Spirit moves within the conversation. The Spiritual Direction program, Selah, through Leadership Transformations, Inc., trained me to focus on Trinitarian, Contemplative, and Biblical foundations. While silence can be uncomfortable for some, the intention is for silence to become part of the rhythm and natural flow. However, this practice is not exclusive to my practice, and I will always respond to what feels best for you.
Professionally, I work for the Spiritual Life Development Department for The Salvation Army Eastern Territorial Headquarters in New York. I have been part of the team here for almost nine years. The vision of our department is to create tangible resources that encourage and guide spiritual disciplines such as prayers, silence & solitude, and Lectio Divina, to name a few. We also provide guided retreats for refreshment and renewal. The work within this department has helped cultivate a deeper understanding of my faith and relationship with the Lord. It’s always about me showing up because He is already there.
I have been married to my high school sweetheart for over twenty years, and we have two daughters. We were an active military family for fourteen years before my husband separated from the US Navy and began a new career. Family, friends, and my community are important to me. For fun, I enjoy spending time in nature, playing with my dogs, reading books, stretching out of my comfort zone and listening to all voices, resting on a beach, and CrossFit. I was born and raised in The Salvation Army, where my family and I attend church. While living all over the country, my family and I have also attended different churches. I gleaned from the experience and sitting in a room with believers who just want to be part of the community. I value and respect traditions that reflect the faithful.

I have my Masters in Human Services- Family and Marriage Counseling from Liberty University. While I am not a certified counselor, my education has equipped me to be a good listener and how to engage in a one-on-one session. Becoming a Spiritual Director is a role I enjoy and feel led to practice.

I lead the Spiritual Direction team at the Bamboo Initiative, as well as providing spiritual direction for seeking individuals. I am a trained and licensed Ignatian Spiritual Director and Spiritual Exercises Accompanist, with experience leading individuals in direction, as well as the Spiritual Exercises (the 9 month version often called the “19th Annotation”), and facilitating group spiritual direction in cohorts with the 10 week Spiritual Exercises (often called the “18th Annotation”). If you’re interested to learn more about these opportunities, please contact me.

I have found my home in observing the loving, intricate and holy work of God in the lives of the Beloved. My joy is found in watching and waiting for the Voice of God as He draws people close. My favorite scripture about Spiritual Direction comes from John chapter 3; “The One who has the bride is the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and is now complete. He must become greater; I must become less.” This is becoming my heart’s desire.

I have particular training in a prayer model called Immanuel Prayer as well as experience teaching Lectio Divina and the Examen Prayer. I am available for 1 hour Spiritual Direction sessions during flexible daytime hours. I am available for face to face meetings with locals as well as sessions via FaceTime, Zoom or WhatsApp. I charge $60 per session for individuals. My involvement as a participant and a Director in Spiritual Direction ministry brings joy and peace to my heart as God's presence and power is at work through this humble ministry. I'm currently the Associate Pastor of Gawler Lutheran Church, South Australia. As part of my ministry I run a spiritual direction and retreat ministry called Three Rivers Retreats. The Ignatian Spiritual Exercises have been influential on my own Christian walk and prayer life with God. They also have been influential on my spiritual direction formation with completing a Masters of Arts in Spiritual Direction in 2013 through the University of Divinity and in 2014 with the Arrupe Program becoming an Ignatian Companion. Since this formation various people have been seeing me for spiritual direction and I've been an ESDA Spiritual Director member since 2016. At the end of 2016 I completed some ecumenical spiritual direction formation with Tabor College, Adelaide, South Australia and affirmed as a Spiritual Director member of the Ecumenical Spiritual Director's Association since 2017. I am currently open to receiving new people for spiritual direction. I also offer Spiritual Direction through Retreats in Daily Life. My training, experience and interest also involve adapting and giving the Ignatian Exercises to those involved in Lutheran and Protestant traditions. Who I am: I am a writer, speaker, trained therapist and certified spiritual director. I received my spiritual direction training from Talbot’s Institute for Spiritual Formation, and my degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Seminary. Although I do not offer mental health services at this time, my training as a psychotherapist has equipped me with a trauma-informed perspective which helps me better disentangle spiritual and mental health issues and offer referrals when needed. The work I do in writing or leading retreats informs my spiritual direction practice and vice versa. Both challenge me to dig deeper into the reality of who God is and who He made us to be. It is my privilege to co-journey with others as they walk with Christ, creating a sacred space for them to experience His joy, freedom and healing.

What we’ll do: In our fast-paced lifestyles there is often little time and space to pause and pay attention to the movements of God. In spiritual direction, we will attend more deeply to the ongoing work God is doing in your soul and help you grow in your capacity to hear from God and participate in the work He is doing in your life. We might examine your view of God, discerning God’s will, growing in intimacy with God, decision-making, grief, faith deconstruction/reconstruction, your experience of prayer, feelings of shame and guilt, and any places you might be feeling stuck or stunted in relation to God. This usually involves meeting about once a month for an hour or so and involves silence, guided prayer and scripture meditation. We will trust the Holy Spirit to guide us, who loves you beyond measure.

I'm grateful for the many seasons of life that have opened up space for applying my vocation in a variety of contexts including family life, church community, professional roles in higher education and non-profit work, and spiritual direction practice.

I received my training in spiritual direction from Denver Seminary and am passionate about prayerfully supporting others in attending and responding to God’s movement in their lives. Together, we notice and wonder what God is up to, we catch glimpses of God in the ordinary, we savor God's deep love for us.

My life and ministry experiences include parenting; teaching; child welfare work; campus ministry; mentoring; leading small group Bible studies, marriage enrichment groups, women's retreats, and training small group leaders in the church context; neighboring and hosting people in our home; and offering a space of retreat for ministry leaders and their spouses/families.

As a pastor's spouse, I've experienced the highs and lows of ministry life. I understand the unique position of a pastor's spouse and the complexities of walking through challenging seasons of ministry life. I am especially delighted to companion with ministry wives - to hold space for them to be seen and known by God and to deepen their experience of their unique belovedness in God's eyes.

I live at the base of the Rocky Mountains and enjoy the vast beauty of Colorado on a bike, a kayak, a hiking trail, and outside my window with a good cup of coffee. I love music - creating it and listening to it, reading, learning, poetry, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

The practice of coming alongside and companioning with a person (or small group) to help them pay attention to what God, through His Holy Spirit, is personally communicating and doing in and with them as they journey through this thing called life. This companioning leads to growth in Christlikeness and noticing the Holy Spirit’s transforming work in their life.

I have been in International Missions since 2008, living in three different countries (Honduras, Germany, France), and I'm now back in Honduras serving in a missionary care role to the hundreds of missionaries in this third-world country. Contemplative Life is one rooted in the practices of silence, stillness, and solitude. It is through these practices that I believe we are able to live and serve from a place of overflow, honoring the way that Jesus taught us through his life and ministry. Our time together will include silence. Understanding that human complexity and the busyness of our world sometimes can make this practice difficult to learn, we will also be sharing thoughts, desires, and prayers–honoring the beauty of Semi-Silent space!

Linda is a licensed minister who has been in full time ministry at the local church level for 12 years. She currently serves as the Care and Prayer Pastor at EastLake Church in San Diego and sits on their leadership team. Outside of work she enjoys time with her family, pets, and any activity involving the ocean. She has been trained in contemplative spiritual direction through Selah’s two year program.

Linda offers contemplative spiritual direction with an awareness of the body and trauma. Somatic Experiencing® is a modality that helps work with the stuck energy of trauma in the body in a way that is supported and titrated in order to not re-traumatize the individual. In 1995, I became aware of "holy listening" while reading Margaret Guenther's work. Her work and writings affirmed what I knew but did not have a term for in the spiritual life. I grew up surrounded by "holy listeners' who understood listening to and being aware of the presence of God in all of life. My family members and teachers understood living the presence of Christ in the rhythms of work, play and rest.

After completing a BA in Religious Studies, a Master's in Counseling and an EdD in Adult and Higher Education, I pursued a certificate in spiritual direction through the Christos Center in MN. This experience was personally and professionally life giving! I teach courses in Listening People to Life: Training in Spiritual Direction at Sioux Falls Seminary. Students come longing for a greater awareness of the presence of God, the ministry of Christ, and of the Spirit's work in and through their lives. I am honored to join people in their spiritual journey.

I value the ministry of spiritual direction as it allows space and time to remember who we are as God's children. It allows a prayerful space for listening and discerning God's purposes for our lives. Isaiah 26:3 reminds us of the peace that will permeate our lives when we are focused on God. I tend to meet with people who are in times of transitions and seeking God's direction for their lives.

I am married to Randy Reese, founder of the ministry VantagePoint 3. We have a high school son who loves to train and participate in swim competitions! We enjoy the rhythm of work, play and rest together.

I have a passion for soul care and am especially burdened for those who serve in ministry, who may become weary and need spiritual refreshment. It is my desire to offer a listening ear and to journey alongside those who desire a spiritual companion. I enjoy meeting with individuals one on one (face to face or via screen). I currently lead bi-annual half-day retreats that combine solitude and group direction (in Dundee, IL).
I received much of my core Christian instruction through John Ortberg, when he was a teaching pastor at Willow Creek Community Church (Barrington, IL). I was led to obtain a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Deerfield, IL) and later on, a Graduate Certificate in Spiritual Direction from North Park Theological Seminary (Chicago, IL). I have been blessed by a variety of ministry experiences, including Willow Creek Association (Barrington, IL), Sonlight Ministries (Port-de-Paix, Haiti), and TEAM (The Evangelical Alliance Mission, Aurora, IL). During my 16 years at TEAM I provided spiritual direction and member care to global workers.

Being driven to being drawn is how I described my own need for spiritual direction years ago. Now, as a spiritual director, it is an honor to help others internally quiet down, listen and grow in awareness of the gentle, loving presence of God.

It is life-giving to come alongside and care for others as they often find themselves running on empty. I have journeyed with the broken-hearted and feel at home in grief and tears, knowing that God is near to those who hurt deeply. I also savor times of celebration -being with others as they catch glimpses of God’s goodness, amazing care and deep love.

After being on staff in both para-church and church settings for 25+ years, I sensed God intentionally leading me to grow in loving Him and loving others well. I immersed myself in a 3-year spiritual training, earning my MA in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care through Talbot Seminary.

My husband and I have been married for 40 years and we have three amazing adult children, one special son-in- law and two precious grandchildren. I delight in strolling in nature with a friend, relaxing with a good book, and savoring time (and food!) with family and friends around the table.

I was trained in Christian Formation Direction Ministries of San Diego and finished in 2011. I moved from assisting people to hear their outer world, to listening to their internal soul.

I also am an author and published a workbook called Not Alone: A Christ-Centered recovery process for women who have experienced physical, emotional or sexual trauma (2019) and Not Alone: Transforming Trauma and Accompanying Survivors (2020). As I started to share my own story of childhood molestation and deeper healing of God, many women have shared their stories with me. Both books contain true stories and spiritual practices that allow God's loving transformation. My latest book, "Spiritual Direction with Survivors of Sexual Trauma" (2023) sprang forth from my experience teaching direction students, accompanying survivors in direction, and meeting with directors in supervision. It brings me joy to see women become freer to be who they were created to be.

I am married to my husband, Ron, of 31 years. We have three grown daughters and two grandchildren.

I love to swim, dance and take walks along the ocean.

Hi, I'm Jen. I’m a Spiritual Director who loves making safe spaces to go past the distractions, busyness and assumptions of life to look for where God is at work.

I’m married and a mom of two teens that keep me laughing daily. I’m a big fan of road trips, the great outdoors, office supplies and creating.

My long-time passion is being a haven for people to feel known and cared for. I’ve spent decades investing in people through, mentoring, Bible studies and discipleship. I love encouraging and pouring into leaders who pour into those around them.

I absolutely love meeting one-on-one with people to listen to their stories and explore where God is moving in the rhythms of their lives.

I received my certification in Spiritual Direction through Sustainable Faith. I consider it such a joy to walk with people on their faith journey and am hopeful God may bring us together to walk for a while.

My background is in the church and academia, where I have served in a variety of roles for 35 years. My personal spiritual perspective is what I would call contemplative evangelical and firmly orthodox. I have been ordained in the Evangelical Free Church of America and hold a Doctor of Ministry in leadership and a Ph.D. in socioeconomics (Spiritual Capital Theory). I have written or contributed to five books. I have taught and coached many leaders in my various roles and now feel called to embrace the vocation of spiritual direction on a more full time basis. I have completed three years of training as a spiritual director and been under supervision.

My view of spiritual direction can be summarized by Frank J. Houdek in his book, "Guided by the Spirit."

Spiritual direction is a conversation, a dialogue, between two people. In such a conversation one person aides another, often by a process of question and answer, to express his or her experience of personal faith and mystery.

My goal in direction, through this spiritual conversation, is to assist my directees in discerning how God is presently at work in their lives, so that they might more consciously and continually experience His presence in their lives.

About Me

Helping people deepen their intimacy with Jesus is a sacred privilege that I feel honored to be a part of when people meet with me in spiritual direction. I am a native Southern Californian and attended CSU Long Beach where I received a BA in Psychology with an emphasis in creative writing. After graduating, I went on to work in the medical field for 12 years before entering into Pastoral ministry in the early 2000s. In 2001, I began the MDiv program at Talbot Seminary, part of Biola University. While pursuing my MDiv I worked as an associate pastor in the Long Beach area for 11 years.

I received my MDiv in 2013 with an emphasis on Spiritual Formation and Soul Care under the instruction of Dr. John Coe at the Institute for Spiritual Formation. I have served on staff with Talbot's Spiritual Formation Core program, providing spiritual direction to graduate students and staff alike. I have also served as an Adjunct faculty member at Biola University. There I had the privilege of leading spiritual formation cohort groups and retreats for graduate students.

Currently, I serve as the Manager of the Certificate in Spiritual Direction Training program and as a Sr. Spiritual Director with Soul Shepherding - www.soulshepherding.org. I am the faculty director for the program where I help train pastors and missionaries to be spiritual directors. I also provide sabbatical coaching, lead retreats and guest speak on topics related to spiritual formation among other responsibilities.

Having served in pastoral ministry for the past 20+ years, I have a real understanding of the joys and struggles that pastors face as they serve in a high people-oriented role. Over the years I hit a wall of burnout and compassion fatigue that propelled me to receive care from a gifted, caring pastor, therapist and spiritual director. I have come through that season having a renewed call to come alongside pastors and ministry professionals facing similar challenges while serving. I believe God has given me a specialty in helping them "tend to their own souls" through the gift of spiritual direction, Sabbatical care, soul care retreats, and pastor Soul Care groups.

Dave and his wife of 32 years reside in Lakewood, CA. They have 4 adult children and 1 still making her way through high school. We attend New Life Community Church in Artesia where I serve as a Life Group leader and provide soul care to the church staff and leadership.

Dave loves to eat Thai food, camp at the beach, ride bikes, watch football, listen to all kinds of music on vinyl with friends and spend time with his family in the pool or at the beach.

My personal calling is to come alongside pastors and ministry leaders and help them thrive in ministry as they keep their eyes upon Jesus.
Too often in ministry we care for everyone else's soul and neglect our own. I know this from personal experience, having served as a pastor in congregations for nearly 30 years. Spiritual direction helps keep pastors' first call, to love and follow Jesus, in perspective as they pursue their ministry vocation.
I've been a trained spiritual director for 27 years and love helping ministry folks hear again Jesus' words, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest."
