About Me

Through my own experience of meeting with a Spiritual Director, God brought about a healing transformation that radically changed my life and relationships, ending a decades-long battle with depression; so I know firsthand how the power of God can be experienced through a spiritual direction relationship. Despite being a lifelong Christian and church leader, the truth of being God’s Beloved only became a felt-experience in that context. I am grateful the Spirit continues to guide my journey of growth in becoming the person I was created to be, and gives me the privilege of witnessing and participating in this process in the lives of others as well.

I am also a grateful cancer survivor, having experienced a successful bone marrow transplant that resulted in remission from Multiple Myeloma, a blood cancer. After four years of remission, I relapsed and have recently undergone the intense process of CAR T-cell Therapy with a partial positive response. This has given me an ongoing and personal understanding of the spiritual journey in the midst of pain, limitations, illness, loss, medical treatments and side effects. Whether or not these or depression are challenges for you, I would love to "listen together" to hear what the Spirit is speaking into your life and through your life and to see the ways God is at work around and through you to bring about redemption, healing, wholeness, and vitality. Most of my spiritual direction ministry is via video chat--Zoom or FaceTime, so even if you are not in Southern California, feel free to contact me to explore the possibilities.

My preparation includes completion of a three-year program in Spiritual Direction through Stillpoint Center for Christian Spirituality, participating in the 10-month Ignatian Spiritual Exercises (19th Annotation) through Sisters of St. Joseph in Orange, CA, and earning my BA and MA at Christian universities. My graduate studies included faith development transition and spiritual formation as major components.

I was raised in a pastor's home and have been married to the love of my life--a New Testament scholar, professor emeritus, author and ordained minister--for 46 joyous years. Together we have raised and delight in three adult children, as well as welcoming their fabulous spouses and three grandloves. I have worked in university residential life on both coasts, as well as serving as an elementary school teacher for 17 years; parenting, grand-parenting, and developmental transitions are areas of experience, study, and interest.

About Me

Hi, I love offering spiritual direction, it is pure joy seeing upfront and personal the work of God in the lives of my directees. I have been practicing spiritual direction since 2015. I completed my program through Sustainable Faith, School of Spiritual Direction.
I work full time as a Trauma Focused Therapist with an LMSW at Valera Health. I received my masters in social work at Hunter College Silberman School of Social Work.
I am also a mom of two young girls and a wife to a loving, supportive husband. I attend and serve on the Elder Board at New Life Fellowship in Queens, NY and serve as a mentor at New Life Fellowship School of Formation program.
I received spiritual direction for myself over 15 years and continue to do so through the Cenacle Sisters and have noticed the transformation it has done in my spiritual journey.

I grew up in NYC from the age of 5, born into a family that followed Islam. I have seen the faith and sacrifice from my family and the discipline they carried through prayer. I love the ways my family has shaped me in living out a life of faith. I found Jesus as my Lord and Savior in my first year of undergrad when I entered my first church, New Life Fellowship in Queens NY. I felt the presence of God in that church and noticed a deep desire to be in that presence. I kept going to church, Sunday after Sunday and it's been over 20 years of attending. I appreciate the contemplative path the church brought which opened up the spiritual practices of centering prayer, lectio divina, prayer of examen, and eventually spiritual direction. Some of my mentors are Richard Rohr, James Finley, Pete Scazzero, Henri Nouwen, Ann Voskamp, Curt Thompson, Rich Villodas, Terry Wardle and so many others.

“You brought me out into a spacious place; you rescued me because you delighted in me."" (Psalm 18:19)

These three brief phrases form a useful framework for my understanding of spiritual formation and the practice of spiritual direction. God delights in each one of us, longs for relationship with us, and wants us to live more fully into the callings and gifts God has for us. Spiritual direction is an intentional relationship of listening to and walking with another as they seek to know Christ and hear the whisperings of the Holy Spirit. It isn’t about giving advice or problem solving, but recognizing what God is already up to. The one who directs should, in the most gracious and humble way, use their giftedness to point others to the fullness of God.

My personal journey of spiritual formation began in a church-going family and was deepened through InterVarsity in college and at Regent College in Vancouver, BC. I am a family physician (working part-time) and spent 9 years in Nepal so have a heart for missionaries and body/spirit connections. My training in spiritual direction is largely Ignatian (through Loyola House in Guelph, Ontario) and I am near completion of a Master of Arts in Theology from Loyola University in Chicago. I am a member and an elder at Blacknall Presbyterian Church in Durham, North Carolina.

God's deep desire is to be with us, right where we are, before we fix or change the things we don't like or think we should have already done. So in Spiritual Direction, we listen. Your task is noticing with loving attention what you're thinking, feeling, hoping, worrying about, focusing on as you move through your days. And noticing with that same gentleness and loving attention how it is with you and God. Don't worry about expectations for yourself or judging your "performance". That noticing is at the heart of Spiritual Direction.

What we are seeking together in Spiritual Direction is a direct experience between you and God. Although my presence, questions, silence, and input are important, the most vital part of direction is you hearing from and experiencing God directly.

My style as a director is focused on grace and gentleness. I've had one of my directees describe her time with me as "guided meditation," and another as a place to process - but my style adjusts to each person I sit with. Jesus’s words from Matthew 11 fit what I’ve experienced in Spiritual Direction:
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (msg)

I attend a Mennonite Church in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood, where a majority of our members are foreign-born. I have been a part of an eclectic array of denominations and I value the strength and charism each brings to the body of Christ. I worked with refugees in the US for more than 13 years and I love cross cultural relationships. I studied Spiritual Direction at North Park Seminary’s Center for Spiritual Direction and have been offering Spiritual Direction since 2011. I am open to new direectees.

It brings me deep joy to share about the transformative power of traditional contemplative spiritual practices in the life of the Believer because I have experienced it myself! Although Spiritual Direction is my first love, I am also trained as a Certified Pre-Marital Coach, Motions of the Soul Enneagram Coach, a Certified Strengths-Based Coach, and am pursuing a Master of Divinity through Kairos University with an emphasis on Spiritual Formation. I have spent years utilizing my experience as a busy, Mother of 11 to support and encourage fellow Foster and Adoptive families in their search to find peace and balance by offering educational opportunities and spiritual retreats. My journey as an Adoptive Mom has provided rich opportunities to learn about complex family structures, trauma, mental health issues, neurodivergence, addiction, and caring for people with life-altering illnesses~ and all the complexities that come with learning how to live, thrive and love well as we share our heart with people who face these types of struggles.

"Alongside, helping others notice God", is my personal motto. I value the gift of receiving and offering Spiritual Direction and soul care retreats for individuals, our organization and church.

My husband and I have served internationally with One Challenge for 35+ years, 20 of which were based in Southern Africa. Currently I live in Colorado Springs where I invest in our 3 adult kids, their well-suited spouses, 6 grandchildren and friends.

A few things about me.....

I'm wife, mom, and stepmom.

I’m a certified Spiritual Director with the Sustainable Faith School of Spiritual Direction and a student in the Masters of Theology program at St. Stephens University with Dean Bradley Jersak.

I am forever grateful to my high school physics teacher Bob Kitson. He told me about Jesus.

Most of my growing and becoming has come through unlearning. I'm certain of less and sure of more.

These days, I call myself a contemplative charismatic, someone who values life in Spirit and embraces practices across time and tradition.

I believe God heals body, soul, and spirit--in a moment and over time. This, mostly, is my charismatic part.

I'm an INFJ and Enneagram 4. Please don't hold it against me.

Over 30 years, I've listened and prayed with hundreds of people on their healing journeys. I love to create safe, sacred spaces and facilitate transformational encounters with Jesus.

I'm founder and director of Roots&Branches Network, a citywide listening and healing prayer ministry in Cincinnati, Ohio.

It is a joy and a privilege to accompany men and women on their unique journeys of faith. Of course, the real ‘director’ is God the Holy Spirit, who initiates and inspires an ever-deepening relationship with the Trinity. He is also the one that helps individuals develop a relationship with themselves and with others in their community. It is a beautiful thing to help people to dive deeper into prayer and draw closer to God in everyday life, and in the midst of difficulties, discover God’s care. It is a wonderous thing to see directees become aware of the sacred within the ordinary events of life and have them honestly share with God their feelings, doubts and questions. All within a safe, confidential space created in an atmosphere of prayer. It is a pleasure to see people become more like Christ and experience the fruits of the Spirit and move into a grace-full life of love and service.

I came to the US at an early age from El Salvador and I am fully bilingual in Spanish. I have been able provide spiritual direction to people from various countries who now live and minister in the U.S.

Trained through Denver Seminary’s Spiritual Direction Certification Program in Colorado, I offer direction to both individuals and groups. While I’ve worked as an ordained minister, chaplain, marriage and family therapist, and professor the thread of meaning woven through all of these jobs has been the joy of helping people experience how God can meet them in their deepest needs. I have a special place in my heart for those who care for others. Hence, I feel called to care for the caregiver.

In terms of how I understand the ministry of spiritual direction, I resonate very much with the words of Gordon T. Smith: “A Spiritual Director offers spiritual guidance and companionship to help make sense of our faith journey, interpret the significant markers along the way, and encourage us, particularly through the more difficult transitions and valleys of our pilgrimage.” This is precisely what I hope to offer my directees.

I would love to become better acquainted and accompany you along your spiritual journey. I currently meet clients online (via Facetime, Zoom, etc), and in person. As someone who enjoys being active and loves nature, I also offer direction while casually walking in a local park or trail. I love meeting with those who are learning to live into the fullness of the abundant life in Christ. I have three married children and a wonderful husband of 39 years. My husband and I have been volunteer staff with Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ) for more than 30 years. Being able to pray with you and for you in your journey as you notice God in big and small ways is a gift that I do not take for granted.

In 25 years of ministry experience, leading prayer groups and bible studies, I have met with women from all ages and types of backgrounds. God gave me a desire to serve in a new way through spiritual direction. He has used spiritual direction to bring clarity, hope, peace, and a deeper relationship with Him. Being able to notice where God is and what he is saying has been transforming in my life.

I completed my spiritual direction certification through Christos. I own a bookstore and I love to travel, play with my grandchildren, read and have people over to sit on my back deck.

Spiritual Formation, the slowest movement on Earth, is only labeled this way because there is an ample time invested in its practice and exploration. As a former spiritual director at Biola University, I run with the notion that God has already been working in the person's life before we begin our meetings. Our task is to explore events and come to discovery of what God has been doing in the midst of all our struggles, trials, and honest mistakes/effort. Being willing to go deep to explore our own past may provide us with some insight into what God is doing in our present circumstances. I partner with directees to identify what is going on in their lives and help discover what the Holy Spirit longs to reveal to the person about themselves and their walk with God. I choose the position of empowering the directee to more effectively tell their own stories as we begin to explore life with God.

As a trained diversity ambassador and missionary educator from Azusa Pacific University, I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings helping international students discover truth about the Bible and the basic tenets of the Gospel message. 20 years in education has enabled me to develop a strong sense of self in teaching and has also alerted me to my own inner desire to help mentor others in order to become their better selves. I now have made it a personal goal to be a better listener to the thoughts, feelings, and attitudes of the heart in order to more properly understand someone's experience with God. This "tuning-in" has become a base position for helping others grow in their awareness of themselves with God.

As an Asian American, I have also had some exposure to exploring my own past to discover the way Honor/Shame has largely influenced and somewhat discolored my own image of who I was in Christ. With my own discovery about ways of being in my culture, I have found it helpful to focus on the love of God to determine a more balanced understanding of how I am accepted in Christ, and having this mindset helps me as I begin to help others who might have similar areas of trauma with guilt and shame. Although this is not my main ministerial duty in spiritual direction, I do hope to show sensitivity whenever I find this relevant to the directee's own story.

I offer spiritual direction from a Christian perspective with an emphasis on working with spiritual leaders in churches and faith based orgs.

I have over 25 years of varied ministry experiences -- I served the gamut from intern to lead pastor, from leading teams in a large church to working bi-vocationally in a new church plant, and both as a board member and a full-time employee in a non-profit. My heart is to walk alongside spiritual leaders in their journey, offering direction through my experience and understanding of the unique pressures they face.

Of course, I am glad to work with anyone, as I find spiritual direction to be valuable for growth, and experiencing the fullness of life that a good God offers.

I was trained through the Sustainable Faith School of Spiritual Direction, and have an MA in Christian Studies from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology.

I live on the desert edge of the Phoenix area with my family and a doodle.

About Me

Inviting and walking with others into the unforced rhythms of grace, is one of the remarkable gifts of Spiritual Direction that I love. I believe it is such a privilege to accompany others into an unhurried space where they may hear God's voice, notice his nudges, and respond to God’s promptings in a way that ordinary life doesn't often allow us space to do. My passion is to walk with other Christians as they experience God in fresh life-giving ways. Sometimes this can be experienced in an office settings, other times on a walk through nature, and other times in places of retreat.

I received my theological education at Princeton Theological Seminary, Spiritual Direction at Selah through Leadership Transformations Inc. In Boston Mass., as well as through The School of Spiritual Direction by Larry Crabb at NewWay Ministries. I am also a certified CHAT Coach for congregations striving to become healthier.

During more 20 years of ministry I have served as Lead Pastor for two Presbyterian congregations, as an Assistant Pastor for Youth & Mission in Ireland, a Prison Chaplain in NJ, and Missionary in places such as Kazakhstan and Belfast Northern Ireland. Throughout my ministry I've led MISSIONAL groups to places such as Romania, Haiti, Jamaica, and Guatemala, and have spent extended time in Russia and Kazakhstan where I focused on evangelism, soulcare, and the care of those with special needs. My training in Spiritual direction has been a major influence in my life. Over the years, I've offered direction to university faculty, administration, pastors, elders, and to the terminal ill.

I currently live on the East Coast of Florida with my wife, Stacy who Pastor’s a local Presbyterian congregation, our three daughters on the verge of college, and son, Caleb who has Down Syndrome.

My passion as a spiritual director is to accompany others on their journey with Christ through prayerful listening and discernment. I have been providing spiritual direction since 2003. I graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary with a M.A. in cross cultural studies, and completed my training in Spiritual Direction at the Institute of Retreat/Spiritual Direction at the Archdiocese of L.A. Spirituality Center.

Having been in full time ministry for 13 years, I understand some of the unique spiritual dynamics in a Asian American church culture.

My husband and I have been married for 39 years and we have 3 adult children, one of them with special needs.

My ministry of spiritual direction was born out of a vision of God’s ongoing hospitality to us, which He invites us to experience as we open our souls in hospitality to Him. When I offer spiritual direction, it is about setting a table for us and God, providing space to come as we are to talk with and direct our gazes to Jesus – the one who sees us, loves us, knows us, and sustains us.

My prayer for my directees, is that they too would “taste and see that the Lord is good”, experience the grace of His presence, and know increasingly what it is to “dwell in the house of the Lord” together.

Hi I'm Paul! I am a 31-year-old Korean American male currently living in Orange County, California. Formerly, I have worked very closely with the local church as a college and youth pastor for about 8 years cumulatively. I am also a graduate from Talbot's Institute of Spiritual Formation Program-- where I first started my spiritual direction journey. Throughout the years I've worked primarily with college students and young adults, helping them to navigate how God is speaking and taking action within their respective seasons of life. If I were to describe my spiritual direction style, I'd say that I'm deeply caring and constructively concrete. I seek to do everything with compassion and simply listen to whoever is in front of me, while also seeking to encourage and fully ground that person in whatever process they are going through. Life is so difficult sometimes and we need others to join us in this journey of faith. I am simply a spiritual friend, helping individuals to recognize and to be more conscious of the presence of our LORD within this journey together.
